HELLO and WELCOME to www.COSMETICSUPPORT.COM. My name is Debbie. I set this site up 13 years ago to create an online community of like-minded people looking for information and support with cosmetic surgery. It is an online resource for patients to explore all the emotions and concerns that arise from a decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. Reducing anxiety creates safer surgery. Cosmetic Surgery should be seen as a medical procedure
Cosmetic surgery is a unique surgery and the best way to learn more about it is to share real experiences with real people using real photographs and real time. This can be done by registering with the discussion forum or writing to me personally. You are invited to share your experience in a personal Journal written by yourself either with or without before and after photos. If you are not a fan of writing, you can phone me and we can write the Journal together. The important part is not the writing but the sharing of experience. You do not have to use your real name, you are welcome to remain anonymous. Sharing your experience helps everyone understand the reality of cosmetic surgery better.
I am trained in psychotherapy but I am also a consumer. I have had both bad and good experiences of cosmetic surgery. I have also spent a lifetime struggling with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I am not selling psychotherapy or anything else on this site. This is an ethically moderated online patient support community for cosmetic surgery patients. This site encourages diversity by welcoming conversations on all aspects of body image issues from cosmetic surgery to Body Dysmorphic Disorder. This site is as much for men as it is for women so let's hear more from the lads!
This site is voluntary, independent and non-funded.
Research is very important before cosmetic surgery and is the single most important thing you can do. This can be divided into two main categories: physical and psychological.
Physical research can be found under the Information Section. If you are in the UK, you can log on to BAAPS and/or BAPRAS website where the surgeons are listed alphabetically and geographically. If you are in the USA, you can log on to the ASAPS website. In Europe, please check ESPRAS There is also an international association ISAPS These sites offer information on breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lifts, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts and other cosmetic surgeries.
Psychological research can be found on this site. You can join the ethically moderated online community right here on this site. You can register to the Discussion Boards where you will also find the archived discussion boards. All information is kept as up to date as possible. If you can not find the answers to your questions, please feel free to contact me. Subscription is completely free. To join: please fill out the form under the video.
Realistic expectations from cosmetic surgery is crucial. Photos donated to this site are NOT enhanced or manipulated in any way. All photos are uploaded exactly as they are received. All photos are of real people sharing real experiences with one another. Realistic expectations in cosmetic surgery puts things in perspective.
Each and every individual experience of cosmetic surgery is unique which makes your input valuable. Please consider donating your story to help others learn from you.
If you can not find what you are looking for, please contact me. I have many other Journals on file.
Take your time - do not feel alone. Online communities are particularly helpful if you are alone without support before or after your surgery. Cosmetic surgery is like a puppy - it's not just for Christmas. It is a BIG decision with long lasting results. A good decision will bring great benefit. A bad or hasty decision may mean a lifetime of misery. Go through all the information on this site patiently and discuss all your concerns here. Make yourself a Well-Informed Patient by downloading the The Consultation Checklist Do not be fooled by clinics who give their sales people misleading titles such as counsellors, advisors, coaches or other self-styled tags which can lead to confusion. Never be pressurized by time limited offers.
Do you have someone you can talk to who is not selling cosmetic surgery and yet understands what is involved? Do you have someone you can talk to that will help you make sense of all the conflicting concerns you may have? Do you have someone to talk to who can help you explore the decisions you are making?
Asking the right questions before surgery may save a lifetime of regret. Please remember to subscribe to the site in order to receive an email alert when a new video is uploaded. I make new videos once a month covering different subjects on cosmetic surgery.
